I wrote these essays in late (i.e., November / December) 1983.
They were selected to be among the winning entries in the Honeywell
Futurist Awards competition; among other prizes, I won an all-expenses
paid trip to Minneapolis in February, 1984. Alvin Toffler
was the keynote speaker at the awards banquet. While some parts
of the essays are a little hokey, they are overall quite accurate and
picked out a couple of key trends and problems.
